As most are aware, the world is experiencing an unprecedented global event that is affecting all of us. The martial arts community has been greatly impacted due to the need to isolate people to curtail the spread of COVID-19. We at NASKA have closely monitored the rapidly changing events happening around the world and the day-to-day adjustments that are being put into place to keep people around the world safe.

The NASKA board has engaged in numerous discussions about the world situation. As you have likely already heard, some of our world events and many of our regional and local events have been canceled or postponed. The AKA Board of Directors is closely monitoring the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic and how this affects our members, competitors, families, and event organizers, etc. The AKA is encouraging event promoters to take all precautions possible and to comply with all state and federal health requirements and recommendations for their area. We will notify members as soon as possible regarding any event postponements or cancellations as a result, and as this situation continues to progress.

As we continue to deal with the effects and uncertainty of COVID-19, and after consulting with the venue and local officials, PROMAC, in conjunction with Keith Bly and Jamie Yowell, is announcing today that the Natural State Classic set to be held on May 30 is now canceled. In light of the ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus, and after consulting with the venue and local officials, PROMAC, in conjunction with Shaun Vickery, is announcing today that the East West Karate Challenge set to be held on April 25 is now postponed until further notice. It is with heavy hearts we send out this announcement concerning The Cowboy Up Martial Arts Championships. Due to the current situation with this Coronavirus pandemic, we will have to cancel the tournament for 2020. We had hoped the situation would change for the better and that we would be able to continue as planned. Following the official announcement by the Government of Quebec regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the Quebec Open team made the difficult decision to cancel this year's edition. The Laval University Peps also decided to cancel all of its activities for the month of April. Obviously all registration fees will be reimbursed to you in due course. Due to the Coronavirus, it is with great sadness that we have to postpone SMAC Internationals. We will not be canceling the event, but we will postpone it to a later date to protect competitors and spectators! The date is not yet set, but we are working on an alternative date. The NASKA Board of Directors is also closely monitoring the situation and will keep all NASKA members informed of any updates or changes as soon as possible.

Due to the current situation with the Coronavirus pandemic and the city of Warwick restricting events, the Ocean State Grand Nationals has been rescheduled for July 17-19, 2020. An official e-mail and statement will be posted soon. We apologize for this inconvenience, but the safety of all attendees is our main concern. The NASKA Board of Directors is also closely monitoring the situation and will keep all NAKSA members informed of any updates or changes as soon as possible.
