Since 2013, the World Karate Commission (WKC) has been the place where martial arts competitors have the opportunity to compete in international world class competition of the highest level. Competitors in the WKC experience standardized rules and regulations along with professional officiating that assure fun and fair events. The structure of the WKC allows all competitors an equal opportunity to participate and the family-friendly atmosphere assures a warm and welcoming environment. Competitors come first for the WKC and the goal is to be innovative and forward-thinking through constant improvement of events, rules and concepts. A World Championship title in the WKC requires hard work, dedication and perseverance – tenets that are what make the martial arts such an important activity and sport. Participation in the WKC is open to all. To find out more, contact your WKC country representative.
About
Region Directors

Each country participating in the WKC selects its own team and is allowed to submit four representatives in each WKC division to compete at the WKC World Championships each year.

Team selection is on a country by country basis. Interested competitors should reference his/her country's protocol and requirements for team selection. For most countries, competitors must participate in some type of try-out or competition to determine team selection.

The WKC World Championships are offered annually (except in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The location of the WKC World Championships changes each year and is announced upon final selection of a locale. In the past, the WKC World Championships have been held in the United States and Ireland. The 2020 event was to be held in Spain. The goal of the WKC is to hold World Championships throughout the world to give participants a chance to experience true international competition and international culture through martial arts competition.

In addition to the WKC World Championships, the WKC offers WKC Pan American Championships to bring North America, South America and Central America together for competition. The WKC Pan American Championships have been well received and allowed competitors to experience the beauty of Guatemala and Mexico.  Future Pan American Championships are planned for throughout various countries in Latin America with WKC representation.
